WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
Jesus is the whole point of Christianity; he is the model of Christians, in fact Christianity is often referred to as meaning Christ like. Jesus is the Christ, the savior of mankind, he is the second person in the trinity which comprises of father son and spirit, he is the son of God the father, he is the messiah because he agreed to come down to the earth in human form to die fro the salvation of man, to free us from the shackles of death and give us eternal life. He goes by many names, he is known as the messiah, the redeemer, and prince of peace.
He was born to Joseph the carpenter and Mary of Nazareth in a manger in Bethlehem, over 2000 years ago, he is believed to born of the Virgin Mary, and when he came of age, he went to John the Baptist to be baptized and there after he started his ministry properly.
The miracles of Christ:
- Jesus calmed the storm.
- Jesus fed over 5000 people.
- Jesus cursed the fig tree to wither.
- Jesus walked on water.
- Jesus turned water into wine.
- Jesus healed the woman with the issue of blood.
- Jesus cast of the legion of demons in thee.
- Jesus healed the man born blind.
- Jesus resurrected Lazarus.
- Jesus also resurrected Jairus’s daughter.
The Temptation of Jesus Christ:
Before the death of Jesus Christ, he fasted for forty days and forty nights, after which he was tempted by the devil thrice, in the first temptation, the devil came to him knowing he was extremely hungry asked him to turn stone into bread, but Jesus replied, man shall not live by bread alone, in the second trial, the devil took Jesus to the peak and showed him all the riches and glory of the world and told him it could be his if he bowed down to him but Jesus replied, it is written, thou shall not bow to any other God except him, in the third and final trial, the devil took Jesus to the peak of the temple in Jerusalem and asked him to throw himself down if he is truly the son of God since it is written that “He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you,’ and ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone” but Jesus said thou shall not put the lord your God to a test and then he rebuked the devil.
The death of Jesus Christ:
The crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ was the very reason he was born into the world, he came to liberate mankind from the penalty of sin, he paid the ultimate price for humanity, and through his death, and we received salvation. Before his death, Jesus suffered severe agony at the hands of the people, the elders and chief priests and the roman soldiers, since he claimed he was a king of the Jews, and it was against the law, Judas Iscariot was paid to betray Jesus and he identified Jesus with a kiss, this led to his trial and death on the cross of Calvary.
The resurrection of Christ:
The Christians celebrate the Easter Sunday as the day of the resurrection of Christ, on the Sunday morning after the good Friday where Jesus was killed, the women went to the tomb where Jesus was laid and they discovered that the stone had been rolled away, and there was a man in white that Jesus had risen from the dead and that he will find be with them in Galilee.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Jesus taught his disciples how to pray after they asked him how to pray, he said to them, if you want to pray, say Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever, Amen.
