Bethesda United Methodist Church

Bethesda United Methodist Church is a historic church in the heart of Clarksville, Tennessee. We are a multi-generational church with people from all walks of life. Our mission is to help people experience a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and to be His light in this world.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As you walk in, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly greeters. They’ll show you around and answer any questions you may have about our services or ministries. The first service begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by Spanish-language services at 9:15 a.m., and then a second English service at 10:45 a.m.

We offer two worship experiences each Sunday—traditional Protestant worship in the sanctuary or contemporary Christian music in our fellowship hall—and children’s ministry during both services (except for Christmas Eve).

WORSHIP

Worship is the heart of what we do here at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Worship isn’t just singing; it’s a whole experience, where you can feel God’s presence and love in your life. When we worship together, we remember how much God has given us and celebrate all that He has done for us through Jesus Christ.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES

  • Sunday school
  • Child care
  • Children’s church
  • Children’s choir
  • Event planning for children

YOUTH GROUP

Youth Group is a ministry of Bethesda United Methodist Church. We are passionate about helping students grow in their faith and learn more about God’s love for them through fun activities and relevant Bible studies. Youth Group meets every Sunday evening at 6:30 PM in Room 1 of the church.

We believe that teenagers need time to explore their faith through meaningful relationships with other students and adults, as well as opportunities to serve within their community. At Youth Group, we do this by having fun together while learning more about ourselves, each other, our community and God’s Word (the Bible).

Youth Group is open to all middle schoolers (grades 6-8) who attend any public school in Montgomery County or DC area schools; high schoolers (grades 9-12) who attend public schools outside Montgomery County may also attend if they are recommended by the youth pastor or his designee

ADULT STUDY GROUPS

Adult study groups are an opportunity for adults of all ages to meet together in a small group setting. There are many different types of study groups available, and most meet at different times and locations.

Adult study groups are open to everyone, regardless of age or marital status. A typical adult study group is a small group that meets once a month on Sunday nights from 7:00-8:00 PM at Bethesda UMC. These groups use various resources from the church library along with books from other authors, but no specific resource is required for participation in these gatherings.

HOMEBOUND VISITORS

Visiting the sick in their homes is a great way to show love and support for those who are not able to attend church meetings. Homebound visitors can help these individuals remain connected with the congregation, by providing them with a connection to their community. Elderly members of our congregation may wish to be visited at home, even if they’re unable to attend church services. They may also request visits from their own family members or caregivers in lieu of attending Sunday morning worship services.

Visiting shut-ins and those who are hospitalized is part of our ministry as well as visiting incarcerated individuals in prisons or jails. The purpose of this ministry is twofold: firstly it provides an opportunity for us all to share God’s love with others through acts of kindness; secondly it helps us remember that none are beyond God’s grace, no matter how far away from Him we might feel at times!

MISSION WORK

Our church has a strong commitment to supporting mission work in our area and around the world. Mission work is an important part of what we do as a church, helping those who are in need, whether they’re here or across the globe.

We have several ongoing projects that support various local organizations and causes. For example, each fall we collect school supplies for children whose families cannot afford them; each spring we collect Easter baskets for families with growing children; every summer we host a community garden where anyone can grow their own vegetables; and during Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons we give away free turkeys/poultry to those who otherwise would not be able to afford it. We also host occasional events such as blood drives or clothing drives where people can come together as one body of Christ working towards common goals.

COUNSELING PROGRAMS

Counseling is available for all members of the church. Please call the office at (913) 489-6123 to make an appointment. If you prefer, counseling sessions can be arranged in your home or through Skype, if you are unable to come to the church building. Sessions are confidential and free of charge, as we believe that everyone has a right to seek help when they need it most. Counselors are on hand for all ages, from children through senior citizens; for any issue or situation–whether depression or addiction; whether you’ve been abused or lost a loved one unexpectedly; whether your marriage is struggling or falling apart completely; whether you’re just trying to figure out who God is and what God means in your life today… whatever else may be troubling you at this moment in time.

Welcome to Bethesda United Methodist Church

Welcome to Bethesda United Methodist Church! You may be here because you want to learn more about our church or because you are looking for a place of worship. At Bethesda, we are a congregation that values all people. We invite you to come in and experience the real difference we can make in your life and community today!

Through our worship service, Bible studies, small groups, outreach programs and other activities we seek to provide an environment where people of all ages are loved unconditionally by God; where they can develop healthy relationships with each other; where they learn more about who Jesus Christ is; and how He transforms lives through His love for us all.
