Bible Verses About Communication

Communication is at the core of every relationship and every part of life. From listening to others and using our words wisely, communication can be a challenge but it’s also an opportunity. In this series we will look at how to communicate effectively, with grace and wisdom:

Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.

  • Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.
  • Be open to advice and instruction, and in the end you will be wise.
  • Take time to consider advice and instruction, and in the end you will be wise.
  • Listening is a skill that everyone should develop as early as possible in life. It’s a good way of reinforcing what they’re learning at school or university, as well as getting an idea of what they need to know before starting work or taking on an apprenticeship.

Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.

  • Rejoice with those who rejoice.
  • Weep with those who weep.
  • Be sympathetic, be compassionate, be kindhearted, be loyal.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

  • Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
  • Never let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
  • Do not speak badly about people behind their backs and then act like nothing has happened when they are in front of you again; do not cause harm to anyone with harsh words or insults; instead use kind words as often as possible!

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.

A fool does not take pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.

Proverbs 18:2 (NIV)

This is a clear statement about what it means to be wise and to be foolish. A person who takes no pleasure in understanding something has no wisdom at all, even if they think they’re wise enough to express their opinions.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

  • Be careful what you say.
  • Be careful how you say it.
  • Be careful when you say it.
  • Be careful who you say it to.
  • Be careful when you repeat it.
  • Be careful how you interpret what others say, and be sure not to misinterpret what they have said in return; after all, “To him who knows to do good, and does not do it, is sin” (James 4:17).

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

  • Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
  • Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
  • Bear with one another and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.

A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates intimate friends.

A rebuke goes deeper into one who has understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Encouragement is a two-way street. It’s not just a way to make others feel better, but it’s also an opportunity to grow your own character. When you encourage someone else in their faith, it can help them become more confident in their own beliefs and actions.

Encouragement is also important in the workplace and at home. When we encourage one another there is greater harmony among coworkers, which leads to better working conditions for all involved. Encouraging your spouse will strengthen your relationship, especially if they are having a difficult time dealing with something like depression or other emotional issues that affect everyday life on top of work stressors like finances or unemployment (see Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

In this passage, Paul is trying to teach Christian men what it means to be a good communicator. Communication is important in any relationship, but when it comes to your relationship with God, it’s everything. Without communicating with God, you won’t grow closer to him or understand his will for your life. In this passage, Paul demonstrates how important communication is by listing several ways that men can communicate better:

  • listen
  • don’t be quick with judgements or anger
  • forgive easily and quickly

Communication can be hard work but it’s important for relationships.

Communication is an important part of relationships. Whether you’re married to your partner, have children, or are a parent yourself, having a healthy communication with the people around you will help you live a better life. To communicate effectively with others, it’s important to be patient and understanding. Try

It’s easy to get frustrated and discouraged when we feel like the people around us aren’t listening. But remember that it’s not always about you! Rather than focusing on what others are doing wrong, try changing your own behavior: speak kindly, listen attentively and empathize with others’ feelings.
