How Many Chapters In Book Of Mormon
The Book of Mormon is a work of scripture that was written by Joseph Smith. Its purpose is to teach the doctrines of Christ, which are necessary for our salvation. It also contains many prophecies and teachings of Jesus Christ. It begins with a history of the inhabitants of the American continent who were descendants of one family that came from Jerusalem in 600 B.C., led by one Lehi (1 Nephi 1:4-6). The book goes on to tell how two parties formed among these people; one group followed God’s commandments while the other group rebelled against God’s law (see 2 Nephi 5:21-22). The book ends with an abridgment by Mormon’s son Moroni about 100 years after Christ appeared in America (Moroni 10:1).

2 Nephi
2 Nephi is the second book of the Book of Mormon and contains the words of Nephi. It is considered a historical book, as it tells about events in which Lehi lived.
Nephi was a prophet who lived at Jerusalem around 600 B.C. He was the son of Lehi, a prophet who had foreseen destruction of Jerusalem by Babylonian armies; this event occurred twenty years later. Nephi helped his father and family escape from Judea to America (around 600 B.C.). They landed somewhere on what would become known as South America, where they built ships and sailed away again after some time in their new land (around 590 B.C.).
Jacob
Jacob was the son of Lehi and Sariah. He was born in the wilderness, and he was the youngest of his family. Jacob was also a prophet of God, as were Nephi, Enos and Jarom. As a prophet, he received many revelations from God that are found in the Book of Mormon. Jacob was also known for being very humble (1 Nephi 7:7). His name means “supplanter” or “deceiver” which might be why he had some trouble with pride when it came to his prophetic calling (2 Nephi 4:12).
Enos
Enos was the son of Jacob and the father of Jarom. He was a righteous man and a prophet of God, who recorded his experiences as he made his way through life. Enos wrote about himself as “a man who did travel in righteousness.” As an example, he noted that he “did not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but I did cry unto him with all my heart, for he had done these things which no other man could do.”
Enos was also described as being “a prophet,” “seer,” and having been used by God to prophesy about future events. In fact, it is written that Enos’ prophecy was so powerful that it brought people to repentance—which is something we can all strive for in our own lives!
Jarom
Jarom was the son of Omni and the father of Enoch. He was born in the wilderness, which must have been a really great place to be because he spent his whole life there. Now, you might be wondering why it’s important that Jarom wrote a record at all since he didn’t leave any other known writings or prophecies—and I’m sorry to say this but that means we won’t be discussing him again until another time when I feel like talking about some obscure prophet who isn’t even mentioned in any other book in our scriptures.
That’s not true! We do talk about Jarom later! When? In 2 Nephi 6:10-12 (which is right after Jacob’s death), Nephi says: “And I remember my father Jacob saying unto me: Thou shalt remember these things if thou wilt bring them up unto thy remembrance.” So yeah…that actually does happen. But only once so far as we know from what is canonized today so far as scripture goes; pretty sure nobody else has heard anything else about Jarom since then either (no matter how many times Joseph Smith said otherwise).
Omni
Now that we have covered the first two books of the Book of Mormon, we will focus on the third book called Omni.
Omni is a small book that is located in the Book of Mormon and has only six chapters. This makes it one of the shortest books in all four volumes.
Words of Mormon
The book of Words of Mormon is a guide to the rest of the Book of Mormon. It was written by the prophet Mormon in order to explain why there are only three books in his record instead of four. I know, it sounds confusing because we think this book is part of our scripture, but it isn’t really. This book was written after everything else by another man named Mormon who lived around 400 BC, who didn’t even have anything to do with Lehi and company!
This is such an important thing though because if Joseph Smith had made up a fake history for his own religion and were trying to pass off what he’d written as real history (which he never did), then surely he would have made up something more believable than just saying that God showed him 116 pages from an ancient record (the lost manuscript) which contained these teachings about Christ and then told him where they went?
Mosiah
The third book in the Book of Mormon is named after its author, Mosiah. This is the son of King Benjamin and a mighty prophet, missionary and king himself.
His story begins with him as an infant being carried away by his father on a journey to escape the people who came to kill him because they didn’t like his beliefs (this was when he was still an infant). He ends up becoming king over all the Nephites but never forgets what his religious calling was even when he becomes a monarch. He spends most of his life trying to make sure that everyone follows God’s commandments so they can be blessed by Him.
He also has many visions from God which tell him how things will be if people stay true to His law or if they don’t follow it at all (and there are always consequences).
The Book Of Mosiah covers many stories about these things including:
Alma
Alma the Younger was a Nephite missionary, chief captain of the Nephites, high priest and teacher. He also became a prophet.
Alma was born in approximately 150 BC. As a child, he lived with his father Alma before being instructed by him to leave home so that he may receive instruction from God directly. He returned to his people after receiving this revelation and taught them what he had learned during this time away as well as preaching repentance from sin and baptism by immersion for forgiveness of sins (Mosiah 18:1-5).
Helaman
Helaman was the son of Alma the Younger and a righteous Nephite leader. He was appointed by his father to be chief judge over all of the Nephites. After he led them to victory in many battles, he became known as Helaman, because he had been so good at fighting for them.
His sons Nephi and Lehi were also prophets in their day: Nephi wrote some parts of our modern-day scriptures, while Lehi prophesied about Jesus Christ’s birth and death on Earth.
- 3 Nephi
3 Nephi is the fourth book of the Book of Mormon, and it’s the third of six books in this volume. In 3 Nephi, you’ll find what happened after Christ’s death and resurrection when he visited the people living in America.
The Book of Mormon contains scripture texts written by ancient prophets who lived on a continent called America (not North or South). These texts were translated from an ancient language into English so that we could read them today. The Book of Mormon also contains some teachings about Christ’s visit to these people shortly after his resurrection.
4 Nephi
4 Nephi is the fourth book in the Book of Mormon. It is also the last book in Part One, which consists of five books:
- 1 Nephi
- 2 Nephi
- Jacob
- Enos
- Jarom
Mormon
The Book of Mormon was written by the prophet-historian Mormon. He was a Nephite military commander and the son of another Nephite general, Moroni. Moroni had been a prophet before being called to write down his people’s history in the plates that were eventually passed on to his son Mormon.
Mormon lived during turbulent times in ancient America when prophets and apostles were murdered by their own people, leaving no one alive who knew how to pray or live according to God’s laws. But before he died, Mormon set up a system so that future generations could know how things worked back then: He made sure there were copies of all the Book of Abrahams (the records kept by Abraham) scattered throughout the Americas; he put his own writings in two different locations so they wouldn’t all be destroyed at once; and he wrote letters explaining what had happened so people would understand why it happened (for example: Why do bad things happen? It’s because we’re fallen beings).
Ether
Ether is a book of scripture in the Book of Mormon. It is the fourth book in the Book of Mormon, and it contains writings from several ancient prophets, including Ether. The title “Ether” refers to this prophet who lived during the time of King Mosiah.
The book takes place after the death of King Benjamin and before Moroni finishes his record on gold plates (see Morm 2:3, 4).
Moroni
Moroni was an important prophet who lived during the last years of the Nephite civilization. He was born to Mormon, and he is also a prophet. Moroni is best known as the last writer in the Book of Mormon, but he has many other roles in this sacred text.
Moroni wrote several chapters at the end of this book to explain how it should be read and what its purpose was. These are all important passages because they tell us how we should use scripture and what kinds of things we can learn from it.
Learn the books of the Book of Mormon.
- The Book of Mormon is a sacred text of the Latter Day Saint movement. It was first published in March 1830 by Joseph Smith as The Book of Mormon: An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi.
- The Book of Mormon is the central text for members of the Latter Day Saint movement and is accepted as scripture by most denominations within that group.
- Members believe that it was translated from an ancient record written on gold plates by ancient prophets who lived on the American continent from approximately 2200 BC to AD 421. They also believe that these same prophets were visited by Jesus Christ in person around AD 34.[1] Because this was recorded on gold plates, it has been called “another Testament” since shortly after its publication.[2]
This book is great for learning more about the Book of Mormon. It has all of the books listed and gives a brief summary of each one. This is important because it will give you an idea as to what is going on in each one when reading through them yourself.
