In a professional tone
(Verse 1)
God bless the baker who fries
These fresh baked things.
God bless the cashier who buys,
Me soda bread, I need dough and all that it brings.
God bless the farmer who grows these wheat scones—and all that went into making them possible: from seed to harvest, from field to mill.
God bless the baker who fries
God bless the baker who fries
These things for me.
I’ll pray to God above, and all the angels too,
That he may keep this baker in his loving care!
These fresh baked things
These fresh baked things are the bread and butter of our lives! Without them, we’d be lost. These little loaves have brought us joy and comfort for years, but now they’re bringing some heat on account of all this bad press about their ingredients. Fortunately, we can rest easy knowing that those ingredients are nothing compared to what’s inside these freshly baked goods: love.
God bless the cashier who buys
God bless the cashier who buys me soda bread. Bless the cashier who buys me soda bread, I need dough and all that it brings. God bless the cashier who buys me soda bread, though she is not Irish and her name is Amy or Ashley or Denise or something like that. God bless the cashier who buys me soda bread, even if she has no idea how much I love soda bread but would probably still buy it for me if asked in a nice way even though this isn’t a date at all so why am I asking her out?
Me soda bread, I need dough and all that it brings
Soda bread is a quick bread made with baking soda and baking powder. These two ingredients cause the dough to rise quickly when heated, which makes it ideal for busy people who want to eat something homemade but don’t have time to bake.
God bless the farmer who grows
God bless the farmer who grows these wheat scones.
God bless the restaurant that shows me where to go get these loaves.
These wheat scones
These wheat scones are fresh baked and flaky, with a buttery flavor. They’re a little bit sweet, but not overly so. You can have them for breakfast or dessert!
God bless the restaurant that shows
God bless the restaurant that shows me where to go get these loaves I see in these homes.
I’ve been walking around in circles all day, and I don’t know how much longer I can do this without getting lost.
Me where to go get these loaves I see in these homes
- Where to get the bread:
- The bakery is located on the corner of St. Charles and Josephine. It’s a bit of a hike up the hill, but well worth it.
- The restaurant where I had my meal was right next door (literally on the same corner). It’s called Tootsie’s and serves great local fare like seafood gumbo, jambalaya, and crawfish étouffée. I highly recommend their fried alligator tail—it’s delicious! And if you’re not feeling particularly hungry after eating all that bread… well… maybe go for some ice cream instead? There’s a shop called Whiskers down the road from Tootsies that makes homemade ice cream using locally sourced ingredients like goat milk from Lusa Farmsteads or pecans from Pierson Farms (which are both nearby). They also have some really good cookies too!
(Pre-Chorus)
I’m not kidding about this bread up in my tummy. I would fill up my tummy with bread but my tummy is full of bread from all this bread I eat.
Don’t get it twisted, I’m not kidding about this bread up in my tummy. I would fill up my tummy with bread but my tummy is full of bread from all this bread I eat.
You know what I’m talking about; the kind of bread that makes you want to take it seriously. The kind of bread that can make a person pray for more, but only if they’re smarter than this guy. He’s trying to eat all of the baguettes in his house, and he wants to let you in on just why and how he eats so much baguette:
“I don’t pray for these baguettes because they are delicious, and I cannot stop myself from eating them.”
“I don’t get enough sleep at night because I am busy dreaming about all the baguettes I will have when I wake up.”
“I’m not kidding about this bread up in my tummy. I would fill up my tummy with bread but my tummy is full of bread from all this bread I eat.”
(Chorus)
(Chorus)
I don’t pray for these baguettes. I don’t pray for these baguettes. I don’t pray for these baguettes.
I don’t pray for these baguettes-uhhh-uhhh-uhhhh
Hot damn, that’s a lot of baguettes for one woman. But a girl gotta eat, y’know? Bread after bread after bread…I could eat a croissant right now. That’s because I love bread. Mmm, bread with carbs, bread with gluten…yum yum yum yum yum. Bread is so good. And soft. It’s so soft! Just like me!! Haha!
All of these statements are true, but they don’t make up the whole truth. Food is an essential part of life and eating is one of the most enjoyable experiences we can have. While some people choose not to eat meat, others do not eat bread or dairy products for various reasons.
The most important thing about food is that it’s good for you in many ways: it helps you grow strong muscles, energy levels stay high throughout the day and it gives your body energy when needed (like after working out). It also provides fiber which helps digestion at all times! If a person doesn’t have enough fiber in their diet then digestion problems can occur as well as other health issues like constipation which makes life difficult overall…
(Verse 2)
The second verse makes this point crystal clear:
You don’t have to pray for these baguettes, no.
I don’t need a blessing for the things I’ve got.
These are the things that make my life complete.
So what am I trying to say here? That bread is good? Yes. It’s true, but it’s not the only thing that’s good in life – there are so many other things out there! And I’m sure those things will be getting their own verses soon enough.
