Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice Kjv
The Bible teaches us that obedience is better than sacrifice. This means that God always prefers our obedience to our sacrifices. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about great acts of service or simple daily tasks, what God truly wants from us is not our devotional efforts but rather the way we choose to live out His commands.
1 Samuel 15:22
1 Samuel 15:22
But Samuel said, “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
Hebrews 13:17
Hebrews 13:17 ESV
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.
Micah 6:8
- God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
- Micah 6:8
Proverbs 28:9
- Obedience is better than sacrifice.* This verse says that obedience is more important than offering sacrifices to God. Sacrifices are gifts given in honor of God, but they aren’t always required. However, obedience is something that must be done consistently by all Christians.
1 Samuel 15:15, 22-23
When Saul heard the report of the Philistines, he said to Samuel, “I have sinned! I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and listened to their voice.” Samuel was angry with Saul, and said: “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For then the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue long. The Lord has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart; and anointed him king over all Israel.”
The LORD then ordered him to destroy his family but leave one descendant alive (1 Sam 15:15-23).
Leviticus 10:1-3
Leviticus 10:1-3 is a Bible verse. It can be found in the Book of Leviticus, chapter 10, verses 1-3 of the King James Version (KJV) translation of the Bible. This passage deals with what happened when Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took fire into their hands and offered strange incense to God while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving instructions from God.
Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
Luke 6:46
Luke 6:46
Love your enemy. Do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who takes away your cloak do not withhold your coat as well. Give to everyone who asks of you; and of course don’t lend money at interest to anyone.’
Romans 10:2-3
The word of God is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
The word of God judges all men’s thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, hearts—including ours! It brings conviction “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. To him who strikes thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him who takes away thy cloak do not withhold even thy coat. Give to every man that asks of thee; and of him that takes away thy goods ask them not back again. The passage starts by saying, “And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.”‘when we’re doing wrong things or thinking wrong things about God; then it also brings about repentance when we repent (meaning: change our minds).
Obedience is better than sacrifice.
- “We will obey your commands and keep them always.” (1 John 5:3 NLT)
- “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me.” (Hosea 4:6 NASB)
- “That by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” (Hebrews 6:18 KJV)
In conclusion, obedience is better than sacrifice. This is found in the scriptures above. It demonstrates that we must obey God and put his word first in our lives before anything else. If we want to be able to serve him properly then we must put our trust in him and follow what he says.
