Resurrection Verses In The Bible
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the most important events in the history of mankind. During His life, Jesus was rejected by many people who didn’t believe that He was God’s Son or Messiah. When He died on the cross, it seemed that His work was over, but in fact it was just beginning. Three days after His death, Jesus rose from the grave and appeared to many people who knew Him well. And this event is what gives us hope for salvation today!
In a casual tone
John 11:25. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25
Jesus is telling us that if we believe in him, we will live eternally, even though we will physically die first. If you are a believer, then you have already been given eternal life. This is because Jesus died for your sins so that God could forgive them and give you eternal life through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). This means that when you die physically, you go straight to heaven where Jesus is waiting for all those who believe in him!
John 5:28-29. Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
The Bible teaches that all people will be raised from the dead, some at the second coming of Jesus Christ, others at a later time.
This passage is a great example of how the Bible teaches that we will be raised with new bodies. John 5:28-29 says the dead will hear God’s voice and come out of their tombs; those who have done good will be raised to life, and those who have done evil will be raised to judgment.
We know that some of these resurrected individuals are still alive today because they have been seen by many Christians in visions or dreams (see Matthew 27:52-53). They had death certificates but now live again! The apostle Paul said his body was sown in weakness and raised in power (1 Corinthians 15:43). If your body is buried in dirt when you die and goes cold—then what? If this were true then we would expect an angel or other heavenly being to raise you from death.
1 Corinthians 15:42-44. So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
What is sown (or buried) is perishable, but what is raised is imperishable. You see, the body that you now possess will eventually die, just as all other earthly things do. But when your physical death occurs, it does not end your existence; rather, it only marks the beginning of eternity for you and those who have chosen to follow Christ.
When we look at Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, we are seeing a powerful example of what happens when our bodies pass away from this life into eternal life with God in heaven. Our resurrection will be similar in many ways—we too will be transformed into something different than what we were before—but also different in several ways: our bodies will never age or decay (1 Corinthians 15:49); they will never grow ill again (Revelation 21:4); they will be perfect and pure because they were made by God himself rather than having been formed through natural processes over time (Revelation 21:5).
1 Corinthians 15:12-14. Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain
Now, I’m going to try and explain this as simply as possible. First off, we’re talking about two different types of death here: physical death—specifically death by crucifixion—and spiritual death—also known as separation from God. When Jesus died on the cross at Calvary (a hill outside Jerusalem) he took away all our sins and paid for them with His own blood so we could be forgiven (1 Peter 2:24). This was what caused Him to die physically but spiritually He was still alive because Jesus never sinned (Hebrews 4:15). After three days in His grave (Matthew 12:40), Jesus rose again and appeared before many people who could testify that they saw Him alive after His death on Calvary’s hill. In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul says “But if there is no resurrection of the dead…” meaning there would be no forgiveness for sin because Jesus’ sacrifice would have been in vain unless one believes in Him as their personal Lord and Savior; therefore their faith would be meaningless since it wasn’t grounded in truth but self-deception instead!
Resurrection is a complex theological subject and one that has been explored for centuries. In this article, we have looked at some key resurrection verses in the Bible to see how they can help us understand what the resurrection of Jesus means for us today.
Takeaways:
The resurrection of Jesus was not just a one-time event; it’s something that happens every day through Christians who are alive again in Christ. Take a look at these scriptures and reflect on them each day during your quiet time or devotional reading: John 11:25-26, John 14:18-23 & 1 Corinthians 15:35-38! You are never alone when you have God as your Friend because He keeps His promises even when we don’t know what’s next.”
