Seek The Lord While He May Be Found

When we read the Old Testament it is easy to think that the people in it were terrible sinners who did whatever they wanted and God punished them. This is not true! People always seek God when they are in trouble but what about when we are not having problems? We need to see how God calls us as individuals and then as a nation to seek Him before things get bad.

Introduction:

  • Introduction: The Lord is the Creator of all things, and He loves us. We can bring our concerns and worries to Him, and He will listen to them. He will give us guidance that is perfect for each individual person, because we are all different from one another.
  • Body: The Lord is a God who provides comfort and strength when we need it most. He wants to help His followers in any way possible, as long as they are willing to humble themselves before Him first.
  • Conclusion: I have found this scripture very uplifting during times when life feels overwhelming or confusing—it reminds me that no matter what happens on earth, God has a plan for each person’s life (and also let’s you know where it’s okay not to take yourself too seriously).

Jesus said in John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me”.

Jesus said in John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me”.

This can be applied to all of scripture, including the Old Testament.

This can be applied to all of scripture, including the Old Testament.

God’s word is always relevant, whether it’s the Old Testament or New. God’s word is always true, whether it’s the Old Testament or New. God’s word is always applicable, whether it’s the Old Testament or New. God’s word is always applicable to our lives, whether they’re past, present or future; we can consider them all as part of this one life that we live in Jesus Christ (John 6:51).

God’s word applies to our situation because He knows what we are going through and has already gone through similar situations Himself when He lived on Earth as a man named Jesus Christ. So if His words speak directly into your heart—if they provide comfort for you in your time of need—then trust them!

In Isaiah we find a pattern of people not seeking God until they are in trouble and then seeking Him as a last resort.

We are all too familiar with the pattern of seeking God as a last resort. In Isaiah, we see many people who had not sought Him in times of prosperity, but turned to Him when they were in trouble and desperate. In order to avoid this pattern, we need to seek God before we get into trouble or before we get desperate.

We need to learn from this and seek Him before we get into problems and try to use God as a magic genie to get us out of our problems.

There are many people who think God is a magic genie in a bottle, who can be called upon when we need help. They believe that if you have enough faith and pray for something hard enough, God will make it happen. This view of God has caused many people to go far astray and live their lives as if there is no consequence for sin because they think God will fix everything in the end.

God does not want us to have this view of Him! He wants us to realize that He is always present with us even when we don’t realize it (Psalm 23), but seeking Him before our problems get out of hand should be our top priority because only then can we grow closer to Him through prayer and study of His Word (Acts 17:11).

When His people do seek Him we need to realize that He is always there and will be found when we seek Him.

As you seek the Lord, remember that God is always there for you. He is always ready to help you, willing to listen to you, and will be found when you seek Him. He seeks us as well, and we need to realize that we can receive from Him at any time of day or night.

Isaiah 55:6-8 “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isa 55:6 KJV).

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” (Isa 55:6 KJV)

This passage reminds me of the commercial where people were asked how they keep their house secure. One man said, “I live right next door to a police station.” Another said, “I have a dog.” A third said, “I have an alarm system.” The last one said, “I don’t need any of that stuff because I have God living inside me and He takes care of everything!” Yes! You can live life without worrying about every little thing because God is always there to protect and provide for you when you seek Him first.

God is always near, but it suggests that it is better to seek him now before you need him than when you are desperate.

Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts, let him return to the LORD and he will have compassion on him; to our God who is generous in forgiving.

  • Isaiah 55:6-7

It reminds me of the commercial where people were asked how they keep their house secure.

Just like the people in that commercial, we often don’t think about God until it’s too late. We need to realize that He is always there and will be found when we seek Him.

They said “After it has been robbed”. Then asked what they mean by that they all replied “After it’s been robbed I lock my doors.” The ad pointed out that if you don’t lock your door someone will end up locking it for you and taking your stuff!

It’s easy to wait until it’s too late. We can wait until we are desperate and in trouble before we seek God.

We should not wait until our life is out of control or we are facing a problem because then it will be too late for us to seek Him, but we can always go to Him when we have a problem. If you have never asked God to forgive your sins then you need to do that now because if He doesn’t forgive them they will not be forgiven on Judgment Day (John 5:24).

We need to remember that God is always there for us and will be found when we seek Him. We should learn from the people in Isaiah who only seek God when they are in trouble and try to use Him as a magic genie to get them out of their problems. When His people do seek Him we need to realize that He is always there and will be found when we seek Him.
