Serita Ann Jakes was born on 19 August 1955 in Beckley, West Virginia, United States. Her father was a coal miner and she lost her mother to the rare Guillain-Barre syndrome. Serita was raised in the Church but in a bid to be among the cool kids ventured into taking alcohol, marijuana and sex.
