St Thomas Aquinas Student Prayer

O God,

Grant me, O Lord my God,

a mind to know you,

a heart to seek you,

wisdom to find you,

Grant me, O Lord my God,

Grant me, O Lord my God,

a mind to know you;

a heart to seek you;

wisdom to find you; and conduct pleasing to you.

a mind to know you,

A mind to know you,

A heart to seek you,

Wisdom to find you,

Conduct pleasing to you,

Faithful perseverance in waiting for you,

And a hope of finally embracing You.

a heart to seek you,

Prayer is a way to seek God and find him in all things. It helps us to know him better, to love him more, and to serve others with his love. The more we pray, the more our hearts are transformed by the grace of Christ. Our prayers should be filled with love for God and others so that we can grow closer to him through our service of them. Below are a few ways you can pray as an Aquinas student:

I pray that Your will be done in my life. I want to be a vessel for Your glory, that I might bring honor and glory to YouI am your servant, O Lord, and I am grateful that you have brought me out of darkness into the light..

wisdom to find you,

O God, by the grace of your Holy Spirit

give me wisdom to seek and find you,

conduct pleasing to you,

faithful perseverance in waiting for you and hoping for finally embracing you.

conduct pleasing to you,

Conduct Pleasing to God

“Conduct pleasing to God,” as St. Thomas Aquinas writes, “means doing the right thing.” While this is not an exhaustive list of all that would please God, it is a good starting point: Be honest; be kind; be respectful; be faithful; be humble.

faithful perseverance in waiting for you,

Keep on going! Persevere! Keep trying! Never give up! Be strong and courageous! I know that God has a plan for my life, and He will bring me through this difficulty. Even though it may seem like the end of the road, there is still hope for me—I can trust in His grace to guide me.

-Pray the Liturgy of the Hours every day. This is a form of public prayer that was written by St. Benedict in the 6th century for monks to pray throughout the day. It consists of morning and evening prayers, prayers at midday and vespers, as well as additional prayers at each hour (hence the name). The liturgy is also known as “the divine office” because it is an official part of monastic life.

and a hope of finally embracing you.

Hope is a virtue. Hope is a gift from God, and it helps us to trust in the future. It helps us to trust that God will do what is good for us no matter what happens.

Hope is also an attitude that we can cultivate and practice by learning more about our Catholic faith. By praying the St Thomas Aquinas Student Prayer every day, you will learn how important it is not only to know about but also live out your love for God every day of your life!

If you are not a monk, we recommend that you pray the Liturgy of the Hours in addition to your daily prayers (the Our Father). If you cannot find a community that uses this liturgy, please use the version belowWe are always ready to learn from one another. We are grateful for the opportunity to study and grow together. We thank you for our professors, who help us understand what we read, the things we see and do, and even the people around usThe St Thomas Aquinas Student Prayer: “O God, come to my assistance. Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”..

Lord,

Give us a passion for learning.

Grant us the ability to think critically and creatively.

Teach us that knowledge is both gained and shared.

We are always happy to help.

The St Thomas Aquinas Student Prayer is a simple prayer that can help you cultivate the virtue of hope. It was written by Saint Thomas Aquinas in 1274, and it has been used by students for centuries to help them learn more about their Catholic faith.

The prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas is a powerful tool for students to use in their studies. It was written by St. Thomas Aquinas, who was the author of the Summa Theological, an extensive work on Catholic theology that is still used today. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote this prayer while he was studying at the University of Paris in 1256 and it’s been used ever since by students as they seek help with their studies or just need some extra guidance on how to approach their exams!

Give us the wisdom to choose what is best for our students and for society. Help us cultivate an appreciation for the arts, sciences and humanities. Set examples of excellence in all that we do.
