The Heavens Declare The Glory Of God Esv
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words whose voice is not heard.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
The sky is a sign of God’s greatness. It demonstrates His power, His beauty, His majesty and His glory. The psalmist wrote: “The heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1).
The Bible uses the sun, moon and stars to describe God’s power (Isaiah 40:26). He created them so that we would know Him through them; however, they are also used as symbols in Scripture pointing to other things about Christ or aspects of Him (Revelation 12:4). An example would be when Jesus referred to Himself as the true light who has come into the world (John 1:9). We can know this because John wrote that he saw “the true Light which gives light to everyone coming into this world” (John 1:9).
Day to day pours out speech,
- Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night declares knowledge.
- There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard;
their line has gone out through all the earth, and their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun [Psalm 19:5-6].*
The sun is a great light that provides warmth and light to our planet. It is the center of our solar system, which includes our moon and many other planets.
He has set up a tent for the sun in which to dwell. It rises at one end of heaven and makes its circuit to the other, shining upon all that live on earthIn the same way, the sun is a symbol of Christ’s glory and power (Matthew 13:43-44). We also see this in Revelation where Jesus has His own crown made of 12 stars..
and night to night reveals knowledge.
The night sky is a beautiful sight. It’s also a sign of God’s glory, His power, His wisdom. The stars in the sky are like jewels on a crown; they declare their Maker’s magnificence (Psalm 19:1–6). The sun and moon provide light for our planet, but they also point us to the Creator of all things (Genesis 1:14–18). And as we look up at these signs of God’s greatness in the heavens, we should feel grateful for what He has done for us and humbled by how little we understand about His ways.
The world is built on the Word of God, and it takes a firm foundation to stand strong against the storms of life. It’s in the Bible that we find out who God is and what he has done for us. It’s in this book that we learn how to live our lives and what happens when we die.

Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard.
Yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.
As the sky was created for God’s glory, so too were the earth and everything in it. The earth is a witness to God’s power (Psalm 74:12). It testifies of His wisdom and knowledge as well as His goodness (Psalm 104:24–25).
whose voice is not heard.
The heavens are a witness to God’s glory. The sky is a witness to God’s handiwork. The skies are a witness to God’s voice, as they declare his power (Psalm 19:1). They also testify of His knowledge and speech, as they were created by Him and for Him (Psalm 8:3–4). He speaks through them on occasion (Job 38:1; Isaiah 55:10), but more often than not they simply serve as an agent of His glory by proclaiming it in silence.
Jesus said that He is the bread of life (John 6:35), and John wrote, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:48). Jesus said that He is the living water that gives eternal life (John 4:14); however, John also wrote, “The water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14)The sun rises, and the sun sets; and hastens to the place where it rises. It is the Lord who made it, and established it for ever [Psalm 93:2-3].The Bible tells us that God created the stars on the fourth day of creation (Genesis 1:14–19). He also made them to be signs—or pointers—to guide people in the right direction. “God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to dominate day and night, and to separate light from darkness” (Genesis 1:15).*.
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. The Lord reigns forever,
