Verse In The Bible About Respect

Respect is something we all have to show each other, whether it be in the workplace, at home or in a relationship. We must show respect to everyone we meet in order to ensure they feel valued. In this post we will look at what the verse says about respect, as well as how you can use this to help you in your day-to-day life.

But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Luke 6:35

Luke 6:35 says, “But love your enemies, do good and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.”

The Bible encourages us to do good even to those who hate us (Luke 6:27-28). It also tells us not to repay evil for evil (Romans 12:17-21), but rather overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). We are also told not to repay anyone who wrongs you or tries to hurt you because that would only lead them into sin (1 Thessalonians 5:15). Another verse in the Bible says that we should love our neighbour as ourselves (Matthew 19:19)

Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.’ Matthew 22:37

Matthew 22:37 says, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

The commandment to love the Lord your God with all your being is one of the most important in the Bible. We are commanded in Deuteronomy 6:5 to love God above everything else and ourselves last of all (Matthew 16:24-25). As Jesus said in Matthew 22:37 above, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” The commandment isn’t just for us to “like” Him—it’s for us to LOVE Him more than anyone or anything else; even more than our own lives!

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. James 3:13

James 3:13 says, “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.”

The word meek here means humble and gentle. A person who conducts himself with good conduct is one who is humble, gentle and kind. When someone conducts themselves in this way it shows that they have wisdom because they know how to act appropriately when different situations arise.

“Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged. For with the judgment you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7:1-2 (HCSB)

  • “Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged. For with the judgment you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7:1-2 (HCSB)
  • “Do not judge others for what they do wrong or right in front of other people. Judge yourself instead because no one knows who is a good person and who is bad but God Himself. Luke 6:37 (TLB)

He does not insult his neighbor; he does not cast a slur on his friend; Psalm 15:3 (NLT)

The Bible says, “He does not insult his neighbor; he does not cast a slur on his friend; Psalm 15:3 (NLT).” When you respect others, you are showing them that they are valuable and important. If someone is rude to you or doesn’t treat you with respect, it’s okay to speak up about it. But when someone is insulting another person, then we must be careful because we don’t want to insult the person who insulted that other person. In this case, we need to show them love so that they will understand how much God loves us. We should also try our best not to hold grudges against anyone because eventually it will grow inside of us and cause bitterness in our hearts which would only lead us down paths where hatred lives instead of love!

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (ESV)

  • Encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
  • Do not be discouraged, for the Lord has done everything he promised to do.
  • Do not lose heart, for faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
  • Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 (ESV)

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Romans 12:17 (HCSB)

If a man steals your property and sells it, do not seek to get your property back from him. Let him keep what he stole from you, as well as its profits.

If a man injures you, do not seek revenge against him for the injury he has caused. Instead, pray for that person who injured you; ask God to bless him and heal any wounds he may have caused in his spirit or body.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned about doing good so that you can be a source of blessing to all those around you!

And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. Luke 6:29 (HCSB)

Luke 6:29 (HCSB)

But if you have respect for people’s honor when they sue you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners have respect for others’ honor. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.

When it comes to respect, the Bible has a lot of verses about how we should treat each other. We’ve studied some of these verses, as well as others from around the world that also speak to this topic. Now it’s your turn! Take a look through the following list and find one or two that really speak to you. Then take some time to reflect on what they might mean in your life today
