What Does The Bible Say About Drugs

You’re probably aware that the Bible has something to say about drugs. After all, it’s pretty much impossible to read scripture without running into verses like these: “Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise” (Proverbs 20:1), “Do not get drunk on wine…” (Ephesians 5:18), or even “You will be punished for your holy people’s sin by the sword.” (Jeremiah 15:2). But what does it mean when God tells us not to do drugs? Does He want us to go cold turkey? Does He want us to just stop drinking wine? Is He saying we can’t even have caffeine? Well, as it turns out… no! The Bible isn’t really clear on what substances are bad for us or whether God wants us to abstain completely from everything that might be considered an addictive substance. However, there are some hints in scripture about how we should deal with our addictions and sinful desires — primarily through the power of relationship with God and prayer.

1. Drugs will not destroy your flesh.

The Bible says that drugs will not destroy your flesh. They may damage your body, but they will not destroy it.

Drugs will not destroy your mind either. They might make it difficult to think straight or remember things, but they won’t make you insane or stop thinking altogether.

Lastly, drugs cannot harm your soul because the Bible says that God gives us a new heart and mind when we get saved (2 Corinthians 5:17).

2. Drugs will not get rid of your pain.

Drugs will not get rid of your pain. They won’t solve your problems, either. Drugs will not make you feel better in the long run and can actually worsen some medical conditions, like asthma and heart disease.

Drugs do not make people more spiritual or connected to God, either. In fact, they can be an obstacle to those things since they lead to the loss of self-control and self-respect—two essential ingredients for a healthy spirituality.

3. Drugs will not damage the kingdom of God.

The kingdom of God is not a drug. The kingdom of God will not be drug-damaged. Drugs cannot take the place of the creative spirit of God in your life, and they will not get rid of your pain or destroy your flesh.

4. Drugs are not a substitute for the creative spirit of God.

The Bible teaches that God is the creator of all things. He made each one of us and we are unique in our own way.

God gives us the ability to create, whether through music or art or writing, so that we can express ourselves and share our talents with others. This is how God wants us to use our gifts and abilities; he doesn’t want us turning towards drugs instead of finding creative outlets for ourselves.

God has given us so much beauty in this world: flowers, trees, animals… If you start taking drugs you won’t see this anymore because they cloud your vision and make everything look ugly!

5. Drugs do not represent your relationship with Christ.

The Bible says that drugs do not represent your relationship with Christ. The only way to God is through Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life. If you want to be in heaven when you die, then you must accept Jesus as your Savior.

The Bible does not say anything about drugs directly. However, it does say many things about sin and how to avoid it. We can see from these verses that there are two ways of living: one way leads towards sin while another leads away from it (John 14:6). Which path will you choose today?

6. Drugs will not help you see God in new ways or make you more spiritual.

The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is our helper, telling us what to say and do (1 Corinthians 12:7-10). Drugs are not going to help you see God in new ways or make you more spiritual. The only way that works is by relying on Jesus Christ alone for salvation and peace with God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

7. Drugs will not give you eternal life or save you from hell (but prayer can).

Let’s get one thing straight: drugs, alcohol, and other vices will not save you from hell, give you eternal life, or bring you closer to God. Drugs do not bring people together; rather they cause a rift between them. They separate individuals from their communities.

Drug use also robs people of their humanity and turns them into addicts who cannot function without the substance they have become dependent on. People who are addicted to drugs become slaves to their own vices (1 Cor 6:12). And in this way they lose their freedom as well as everything that makes us human— including hope for eternal life!

8. Drugs will not provide a window into the spiritual world around us and give you deeper insight into matters of the Spirit (meditation is suggested instead).

The Bible does not condemn meditation and prayer, but it does warn us to be careful about our motives. Meditation can be a form of prayer, but it is not the only form of prayer. There are many ways to pray and meditate, including singing songs of worship and reading scripture aloud. When it comes to drugs, they may cause you to feel better temporarily. However in the long run they will damage your body and mind without providing any real benefit or insight into spiritual matters like meditation provides because they focus on material things instead of God who created everything (Genesis 1:1-2).

9. Drugs will not help you see visions or speak in mystery languages…or any language for that matter (prayer is encouraged).

Visions and mystery languages are not the same thing. This is because the Bible makes a distinction between them in Acts 2:17-18 and 1 Corinthians 14. The former verse refers to “visions” as something that can be seen by the physical eyes, while the latter verse refers to “unknown tongues” as language spoken only by those who have been given this gift by God through the Holy Spirit. In both cases, they are gifts from God and not attained through drugs or alcohol use.

The Bible is clear that drugs are sinful, but it also tells us how to deal with addiction — through the power of relationship and prayer with God!

The Bible is clear that drugs are sinful, but it also tells us how to deal with addiction — through the power of relationship and prayer with God! The Bible tells us that God can help us overcome addiction, which leads us to our next question: What does the Bible say about drugs?

The Bible is clear that drugs are sinful. Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28 ESV: “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (NIV)

Not only does God want us to avoid physical addictions like alcohol or drugs (1 Corinthians 6), He wants us to avoid mental ones as well. Proverbs 23:31-32 NIV says “Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways. For the perverse person is an abomination to the LORD; he detests all workers of evil.
